Meet The Team

Shudder Films is a BAFTA and BIFA-winning UK film production company with bases in Newcastle, Belfast and London. Recognised in Screen International's Brit 50: Ones to Watch 2025 and recently backed by UK Global Screen Fund's International Business Development Award. 

We produced Kneecap, which premiered at Sundance and was acquired by Sony Pictures Classics. It won the Audience Award: NEXT at Sundance, and went on to receive 6 BAFTA Nominations, winning the BAFTA for Best Debut, and won seven BIFAs including Best Film. It also earned two Academy Award shortlistings, including Best International Feature.

We produced Learning to Breathe Under Water, a UK–Ireland–Netherlands co-production starring Rory Kinnear and Maria Bakalova, which recently premiered in Karlovy Vary and won the Audience Award at the Galway Film Fleadh; in post production we have Daughter of Eden, a suspenseful drama by debut filmmaker Fateme Ahmadi, backed by the BFI, BBC Film, Screen Ireland and Civic Studios, which Lucky Number are selling. 

We produced God’s Own Country, which stars Josh O’Connor and won prizes in 2017 at Sundance, Berlinale, Edinburgh and Galway, won four BIFAs including Best Film, and was BAFTA nominated for Outstanding British Film; and Await Further Instructions, which won awards on the genre circuit, was Critics Pick in the New York Times, and sold to Netflix.

Alongside feature production, Shudder Films has produced content for Disney/Hulu and co-founded the Mother Tongues Development Award with Curzon and Charades, supporting UK-set films told in languages other than English. In 2010, our short film Assessment, starring Joe Cole, was shortlisted for a BAFTA.
