WHO ARE WE?

Shudder Films is a BAFTA and BIFA-winning independent film company. Its most recent feature, Kneecap, won the Sundance Audience Award NEXT:, was acquired by Sony Pictures Classics, and went on to win a BAFTA for Best Debut alongside seven BIFAs including Best Film. It also earned two Academy Award longlistings, including Best International Feature. Shudder has previously produced God’s Own Country, which won prizes in 2017 at Sundance, Berlinale, Edinburgh and Galway, received four BIFAs including Best Film, and earned a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding British Film; and Await Further Instructions, which was selected as a New York Times Critics’ Pick and sold to Netflix.

Alongside feature production, Shudder Films has produced content for Disney/Hulu and collaborated with Sony Interactive Entertainment. The company also supported development and business affairs across film and television projects at Ridley Scott’s Scott Free through Creative England’s Producer Hothouse and co-founded the Mother Tongues Development Award with Curzon and Charades, supporting UK-set films told in languages other than English.

Shudder Films currently has two features in production: Learning to Breathe Under Water, a UK–Ireland–Netherlands co-production starring Rory Kinnear and Maria Bakalova, supported by Screen Ireland, the UK Global Screen Fund and the Netherlands Film Fund, and selected for the British Council’s Great8 Showcase at Cannes 2025; and Daughter of Eden, a debut suspense drama backed by the BFI, BBC Film and Screen Ireland, scheduled to shoot in Autumn 2025.
